NFIXIT was a Technical name started back in 2000, NFIXIT serviced computers (hardware and software, Networking) in the early days. After being founded in a urban area and noticed that there were still a large amount of homes that did not have at least 1 computer in the household, that became a mission for NFIXIT since. So in 2003 NFIXIT started to sell used(and build custom new) computers at a price that low income families could afford. The next dilemma was, a lot of people are just scared of computers, and did not know where to start as far as using one. I always explained to new users that a computer is what ever you want it to be,its what you make it! We have clients who only use there computer to browse the internet(probably the highest percent of computer uses is for this purpose), some only use it to watch movies or play/make music, video games, work from home etc. NFIXIT has always been a teacher(an a student!) so tutoring has always been a service and the hours of phone
support(or IM support) can't be remembered.Always learning from other
skilled technicians and teaching who ever we can.One of our most frequently asked
questions was, how can I allow my computer to make my job easier? There are numorus
answers to that question, simplifying tasks, saving time etc. It came down to one thing
SOFTWARE!
If you can work the software you can pretty much perform any task with a computer. But the problem was learning the software and most software companies will not offer a simple
tutorial and that keeps new users from trying a lot of new applications. So
that's when NFIXIT found an interest in tutorials and what can be better than a video tutorial? I personally always found video tutorials to be the easiest way to learn how to perform
certain software task but video tutorials were not so common and most of the time not
free either. So I figured why not create a place were new, intermediate and
advanced users can teach and learn online from fellow visitors and that is the
start. and who knows where it will go from here ;) "Teaching and learning" that's what
we stand for!
